Wiz-Team hosts Client Workshop focused on exchange and innovation
On 9 April, nearly 80 participants from 29 organisations and partners gathered in Lausanne, Switzerland, for Wiz-Team’s annual full-day Client Workshop. Representing a broad cross-section of the events world – from sport and NGOs to government and the corporate sector – attendees came together for a day of product previews, peer exchange and open discussion.
Kicking off proceedings, newly appointed Chief Revenue Officer Tim Goethals set the tone: “From long-term clients to new clients and partners – quite a few people we work with in the event space are present today. When we created this workshop, one of the main objectives was to bring everyone together to connect, exchange and learn from each other.”
A year to remember, and a roadmap to match
Tim Goethals opened with a 12-month retrospective that illustrated just how far Wiz-Team has come. Among the year’s highlights: the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup in the UK, a major international club football tournament in the USA, the Islamic Solidarity Games in Saudi Arabia and – a landmark moment for the company – Wiz-Team’s first full Games Management System delivery and its first full Evo deployment at a major Winter multi-sport competition earlier this year.
Reflecting on the year, the former COO-turned-CRO said: “The last 12 months have been extremely busy. The one standing out is the recent Winter Games. We’re proud to do big events but equally committed to staying engaged with our historical base.”
CEO Johann Woringer then shared updates to the organisational structure, which has evolved to accommodate its continued growth. Looking ahead, Wiz-Team has its sights set on a number of major international sport tournaments spanning multiple countries, alongside preparing Event-Works’ next chapter and deploying its product range across all clients.
Event-Works: A platform in transition
A significant portion of the day was devoted to the continuing evolution of Event-Works, Wiz-Team’s all-in-one event management platform, with the product team offering attendees a behind-the-scenes look at what is in development. Clients got a first glimpse of the new Evo ToGo, the Participant App – a fully customisable, redesigned experience expected to launch at the end of Summer 2026 – as well as updates on the broader roadmap for the platform’s transition to the Evo ecosystem, a topic Wiz-Team will be sharing more on later in the year.
The workshop also featured a session on data privacy and GDPR compliance, exploring how Event-Works supports clients in managing participant data safely and responsibly; a subject that prompted a lively and wide-ranging discussion from the room.
A “Did You Know” session led by Head of Account Services & Operations Anh Nguyen, drawing on more than 70 user change requests implemented over the past year, offered a tour of tips, tricks and newly added features across fields, imports, exports, session management and access control. Participants were also invited to get hands-on with Evo’s new interface, building forms and email templates and providing direct feedback that will inform future design decisions.
Client voices: Guest Management at European Athletics
The afternoon sessions shifted focus from product to practice. Marie-Anne Midy, Guest Services & Events Manager at European Athletics, offered insights into how her organisation uses Event-Works as an end-to-end guest management solution. For the upcoming European Athletics Championships 2026 in Birmingham (UK), the platform is managing around 10,000 expected participants across 48 groups, collecting 15 sets of data per participant – from accreditation and flight details to dietary requirements, hotel bookings and hospitality packages, as well as meals management. A live demonstration brought the guest management workflow to life for attendees, illustrating how the platform’s back-office capabilities support everything from transportation scheduling and catering to VIP access allocation.
A growing community, looking ahead
The day concluded with a panel discussion on where the events industry is heading, bringing together voices from inside and outside the Wiz-Team ecosystem. Artificial intelligence, sustainability and the evolving role of biometrics and security were at the heart of a conversation that reflected just how rapidly the events landscape is changing – and how much thinking the industry still has to do. More to come on this in a dedicated article.
With clients from Commonwealth Sport and World Rugby to the European Commission, the British Olympic Association and the World Council of Churches all in the room, the diversity of the Wiz-Team community was on full display. Several industry partners were also present, reflecting the growing ecosystem that has developed around Event-Works.
For Wiz-Team, the day served as both a milestone and a marker of what lies ahead. As Johann Woringer put it: “Managing our growth while keeping our values and DNA is crucial. Our mission remains the same from the beginning – to empower event managers by providing state-of-the-art solutions and outstanding services. We are here to support you, to work with you, and to help you deliver great events.”
